Counseling

Our counselor is on campus three days per week to provide a variety of support services to students and teachers. Such counseling services include:

  • assessment of students referred to counseling
  • counsel children and parents on an individual and group basis
  • conduct support groups for students around issues such as divorce, social skills, friendship, self esteem
  • consult with the principal and teachers on student issues related to counseling
  • observe students in class or on the playground
  • consult with teachers on possible intervention strategies
  • classroom presentations

Students may seek counseling themselves, through a parent or by a teacher request. Records of counseling are not part of the student’s permanent record. All files are kept confidential and will not be sent to another agency/school without a written request from the parents.

Our counselor can be reached at afinnerty@sacredheartschool.net or by phone at (916) 456-1576, ext. 205
